Are you dreaming of wedding photos that are absolutely breathtaking? Look no further than the absolutely stunning Key’s View in Joshua Tree National Park! This little slice of desert paradise is the perfect place to take photos after you tie the knot if you’re looking for something that’s off the beaten path, full of natural beauty, and downright romantic.
Let’s dive into why Key’s View is the ultimate photo destination and how you can make your big day a stunning day to remember!
Nestled in the heart of Joshua Tree National Park, Key’s View is like something out of a fairytale. Seriously, you just CAN’T get enough of this view. With panoramic views, that stretch as far as the eye can see, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to another world. This spot is not on the approved wedding destination list for Joshua Tree National Park, however, you can always drive up there for some pictures and to watch the sunset with each other! Picture yourself sitting on a rock with your partner, towering joshua trees, and watching the golden flow of the California sun. It’s the kind of place that will leave your friends and family back home green with envy!
And the best part? Key’s View is SUPER easy to get to and NO HIKING involved! It’s wheelchair accessible so if you want friends and family there, it’s easy for everyone to enjoy your special ceremony. In just a short drive from the park’s entrance and you’ll be surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the desert. And if you’re planning a little after-party, the nearby town of Joshua Tree has you covered with cozy accommodations, tasty eateries, and quirky attractions that your guests will love.
Hire a Professional Photographer (aka me) 😉
This is one day you’re definitely going to want to remember, so make sure to hire a destination wedding photographer, like myself, who knows their way around elopements. I can capture all of those magical moments and help you pick the best spots for those Insta-worthy shots!
Get Permission
Before you start picking out your desert-inspired wedding attire, make sure to get a special use permit from the National Park Service. It’s a small step that will ensure you have the space for your ceremony and photo ops! Key’s View isn’t a place for you to set up a ceremony and free-standing arch and all that chaos, it’s more so for pictures and memories! You don’t want to be setting up an arch and decor on the edge of a cliff! However, check out this blog post for other places to elope in Joshua Tree National Park!
Golden Hour is your Friend
Trust me, you’re going to want to take pictures during the golden hour. It’s that magical time right before sunset when the light is just perfect. The photos in this post were taken at sunset and we watched the sun slowly go through the mountain peaks and down the horizon. It truly was a once in a lifetime experience.
Dress for Success
The desert can be a little unpredictable, so come prepared! Bring layers to stay cozy once the sun goes down, sunscreen to protect your skin during the day, and lots of water to stay hydrated and keep that skin looking smooth for all of your photos!
Make it Yours!
The best part about eloping? You get to do it your way! Write your own vows, incorporate special rituals, hire a live musician to serenade you as you walk down the aisle, wear comfy clothes, get ready together, I mean truly – do what you want!
Eloping in Joshua Tree National Park is a dream come true for couples looking for a unique and intimate celebration. With its jaw-dropping views, easy access, and endless opportunities for customization, it’s a destination that’s as one-of-a-kind as your love story.
So, what are you waiting for? Reach out and let’s start planning the elopement of your dreams!
